Our approach can be broken down into four phases:

Preliminary Study

Meet with our team to review your project and determine if Custer Homes is the right fit for you. Selecting the right builder for your dream home is a major decision that should be made carefully. The home building process is a long-term partnership that runs most smoothly when we have a mutual understanding of your budget, style, personal needs, expectations, and timeline. Open and regular communication is key.

  • Discuss overall scope of project, budget and timeline

  • Evaluate the building site

  • Complete Design Questionnaire and gather inspiration
  • Develop a “good-faith estimate” and timeline

Design Development

The fun begins! Our designers will start developing preliminary sketches of the floorplans and elevations of your home, eventually creating 3-D renderings to help you perfectly envision your new home. They will meet with you every step of the way in our design studio, as your plans, design details, and selections come together.

  • Develop preliminary floorplan sketches

  • Create concept elevations & 3-D renderings
  • Begin comprehensive design of interior & exterior
  • Refine material and product selections

Pre-Construction

Once the plans and selections are nearly finalized, the major decisions have been made and a projected start date determined, we are ready to assemble accurate numbers and the necessary documents for a successful and enjoyable building process.

  • Obtain quotes from our select list of long-term, trusted suppliers and trade partners
  • Review and revise plans, design details, and specifications as necessary to meet budgets and expectations
  • Finalize contract documents and financing

  • Obtain required permits

Construction

After we break ground, our team manages construction with daily site visits. We keep you informed throughout the process with access to progress photos, site updates and relevant information as your home progresses. Good communication is key for every successful project.

  • Conduct new home walkthrough and orientation
